Johnson City, Tn. – The Wofford men's soccer team lost 4-1 at ETSU on Saturday evening. The Buccaneers broke through in the third minute and then padded the lead with three insurance goals. With the loss the Terriers end the regular season with a 4-14 record overall and a 4-6 record in the Southern Conference.
ETSU quickly got the scoring started when Fletcher Ekern linked up with Danny Barlow in the third minute of the match. The Buccaneers continued to dominate the ball and struck again in the 12
th minute to take a 2-0 lead. ETSU would score two more goals before the half time whistle, one in the 39
th minute and one in the 45
th.
The Terriers started the second by creating a couple of good scoring chances and Wofford broke through in the 59
th minute. Wofford was awarded a penalty kick and
Lucas Altman stepped up to the spot a converted the penalty kick. The Terriers continued to apply pressure throughout the second half but the ETSU lead proved to be too large to overcome.
Despite the loss, Wofford totaled eight shots and four corner kicks.
Lucas Altman tallied two shots on goal and recorded his sixth goal of the year.
Wofford will return to the pitch on Saturday, November 4 when the Terriers travel to Macon, Ga. to square off against Mercer in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament
