Men's Soccer Gets Win in Comeback Fashion

Greensboro, N.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team won 2-1 in overtime at UNCG on Tuesday evening. UNCG got the scoring started in the 42nd minute of the first half but Wofford found the equalizer in the 81st minute to send the game into overtime. Just three minutes into the first overtime period Wofford found the game winner for the Terriers first win of the season. The win moves the Terriers to 1-10 on the season and 1-2 in the Southern Conference.
 
After 40 minutes of scoreless action the Spartans finally got the scoring started in the 42nd minute when Leeroy Maguraushe linked up with Tyson Hichmann sending the match into the halftime break 1-0, UNCG.
 
Wofford came out strong in the second half creating offensive opportunities including consecutive corner kicks in the 78th minute. The Terriers found the equalizer in the 81st minute when Kristinn Sigurjonsson and Kevin Davidsson linked up with Lucas Altman for the goal. The two teams played the next nine minute scoreless sending the match into overtime.
 
Just three minutes into the overtime period, Dredon Kelly had a throw in on the far sideline which fell to the feet of Austin Tuggle, Tuggle then played a beautiful through ball to Sam Ross who beat two defenders and the goalie to win the game for Wofford.
 
In the victory, the Terriers totaled three shots on goals and five corner kicks. With the game winner, Sam Ross picked up his second goal of the season while Lucas Altman scored his second goal of the season and has now scored in two straight games. Kevin Davidsson picks up his third assist of the season while Kristinn Sigurjonsson tallied his first assist as a Terrier. Hunter Wages made four saves along the way to picking up his first win.
 
Wofford will look to make it two straight on Saturday evening when the Terriers host VMI at 6 pm at Snyder Field.
