SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team fell 68-45 to Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneers defeated the Terriers thanks to solid shooting from the floor while holding the Terriers to just two three point field goals. The loss is Wofford's fourth straight and drops the Terriers to 5-8 on the season.

Wofford struggled out of the gates, shooting just 2-16 (12%) from the field and 0-5 from behind the arc. The defense of the Terriers kept them in the game as Wofford held Charleston Southern to just 12 points on 5-14 (35%) from the floor and 0-3 from beyond the arc. Wofford had three different point scorers in the first quarter while the Buccaneers had five different players record a basket.

The Terriers continued to play solid defense in the second quarter, holding Charleston Southern to just 3-11 (27%) from the floor and 0-2 from beyond the arc. The Buccaneers converted 6-10 from the free throw line and forced Wofford to shoot just 3-15 (20%) from the field in the second period of play.
Marissa Bayer led the Terriers with seven points and two rebounds after one half of play as the Terriers shot just 5-31 (16%) in the first 20 minutes.

Wofford's shooting woes continued in the second half as Charleston Southern forced Wofford to shoot just 11-30 (36%) from the field in the second half while knocking down just 2-11 (18%) from beyond the arc. The Buccaneers shot a solid 22-58 (37%) from the field and 21-30 (70%) from the free throw line.

Despite the loss, Wofford was led by
Cairo Booker who scored ten points and four assists.
Da'Ja Green added seven rebounds, three assists and four points over 29 minutes.

Wofford returns to the court on New Years Day when the Terriers host North Florida at 2 pm at Richardson Indoor Stadium. Wofford will then open up conference play against Mercer (Jan. 4) and Samford (Jan. 6) at home prior to a road trip to UNCG (Jan. 11) and Western Carolina (Jan. 13).
