Baseball Wins 3-2 At Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Wofford College baseball team earned a 3-2 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field. The Terriers took a 2-0 lead after the first two innings and added a third run in the fifth inning. The Rattlers put two runs across in the sixth inning, but neither team scored in the final three frames to give the Terriers the win.
 
Wofford and Florida A&M are both 1-1 on the season. The Terriers were led by Brett Hash with two hits, including a solo home run, while Kody Ruedisili added a pair of hits. Aubrey McCarty led the Rattlers with three hits and an RBI on the day.
 
Kody Ruedisili led off the game with a double, but was picked off. Max McDougald reached first on a wild pitch and Brett Hash followed with a single. A walk to Mack Nathanson loaded the bases and a fielder's choice by Cody Miller drove in McDougald for a 1-0 lead. The Rattlers were retired in order to end the first inning. Wofford loaded the bases again in the top of the second with a walk to Reed Massey and singles by Alex Malsch and Kody Ruedisili. A ground out by Max McDougald scored Massey for a 2-0 score. Florida A&M stranded a pair of runners in the second following a single and a walk.
 
In the third inning, Wofford had a single by Ty Reginelli and the Rattlers had a single from Kaycee Reese, but both were left on base. Reed Massey added a single in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rattlers loaded the bases with two singles and an error. A strikeout and double play ended the scoring chance.
 
In the top of the fifth inning, Brett Hash hit a solo home run for a 3-0 lead. It was the first home run of the season for the Terriers and the tenth of his career. The Rattlers got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with a single and an RBI triple by Aubrey McCarty. A ground out scored McCarthy to make it a 3-2 game.
 
The Terriers left one runner on base in the seventh and the Rattlers were held to one hit in the bottom half of the seventh. After Wofford stranded a runner to open the eighth inning, Florida A&M was retired in order in their half of the eighth. Wofford had two runners on base in the ninth as Kody Ruedisili was hit by a pitch and Max McDougald singled, but both were left on base. In the bottom of the ninth, the Rattlers led off with a single, but a ground out, strikeout and ground out ended the game.
 
Wofford starting pitcher Spencer Kulman (1-0) threw six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Jordan Accetta earned his first career save by going the final three innings with two hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
 
Ryan Anderson (0-1) started for the Rattlers and gave up three runs on seven hits in five innings with four strikeouts. Ty Russ went an inning with two strikeouts. Jamie Grant threw the final three innings with one hit allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
 
Wofford will complete the weekend road series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Terriers will play Wednesday afternoon at Presbyterian College. The home slate begins next Friday at 5:00 p.m. against James Madison at Russell C. King Field.
