PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – On a cold and blustery Saturday afternoon, the Wofford College baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against Villanova at Villanova Ballpark. In the opening seven inning contest, the Terriers scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to win 7-3. The Terriers scored nine runs in the second inning of the second contest on the way to a 13-0 victory.

Wofford is 14-14 on the season and Villanova is 3-14 overall. The Terriers had a total of 20 hits in the two games with
Max McDougald and
Brett Rodriguez with three hits each. The games were the home opener for the Wildcats, who were led by Donovan May, Doug deMarrais and Ryan Toohers with two hits each.

To begin the first game, Wofford was retired in order in the top of the first inning. The lead-off batter for the Wildcats singled, but a double play ended the first. The Terriers had singles from
Carson Waln and
Reed Massey in the top of the second, but a fielder's choice and strikeout ended the scoring chance. Villanova left one runner on base in the bottom of the second inning after a pair of hits.

Kody Ruedisili led off the third inning with a single and
Brett Hash was hit by a pitch with two out, but both runners were stranded. Villanova went in order to end the third inning. Wofford left one runner on base in the top of the fourth and the Wildcats stranded a pair. The Terriers had a double in the top of the fifth by
McClain Bradley. In the bottom of the fifth with one out, the Wildcats had a triple and followed with a three straight singles for a 2-0 lead. A sacrifice fly made it 3-0 before a strikeout ended the fifth inning. Wofford was then retired in order in the top of the sixth and Villanova stranded two in the bottom of the sixth.

Max McDougald led off the top of the seventh with a single and
Alec Cargin reached on a walk.
Andrew Orzel was hit by a pitch with one out to load the bases.
McClain Bradley walked to bring in a run for a 3-1 game.
Brett Hash reached on an error, with a pair of runs to tie the game at 3-3. A single by
Mack Nathanson plate a run for a 4-3 lead and a bunt single from
Carson Waln made it 5-3.
Reed Massey and
Ty Reginelli added RBI singles as the Terriers took a 7-3 advantage. The Wildcats had a single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh

Adam Scott started for the Terriers and went five innings with three runs allowed on eight hits, along with seven strikeouts.
Reece Maniscalco (1-0) threw an inning with one hit allowed and a strikeout for his first career win.
Cole Bradley struck out two batters and allowed one hit in the final inning.

Villanova starter Jonathan Rosero threw six innings with one run allowed on five hits and six strikeouts. Jason Applegate went a third of an inning with two runs allowed. Zach Lutner (0-1) gave up four runs on three hits. Ryan Doty threw two-thirds of an inning with two strikeouts and one hit allowed.

In the second game, Brett Rodriguez led off with a triple down the first base line and
McClain Bradley followed with a walk. A single by
Brett Hash made it 1-0 and a ground out by
Cody Miller gave Wofford a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats were retired in order to end the first inning.

Wofford loaded the bases in the top of the second with two singles and an error. Singles by
McClain Bradley and
Brett Hash plated one run each.
Mack Nathanson,
Cody Miller and
Reed Massey drew bases loaded walks to make it 7-0. A ground out by
Max McDougald and a single by
Stone Pellegrino pushed the lead to 10-0. Kody Ruesisili reached on an error with one run scoring for an 11-0 score in the middle of the second. Villanova had a double in the bottom of the second, but the runner was stranded.

The Terriers left one runner on base in the top of the third and the Wildcats were retired in order to end the third frame. Both teams were retired in order in the fourth inning. To lead off the fifth inning,
Brett Rodriguez singled and
McClain Bradley and
Brett Hash were hit by a pitch to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by
Mack Nathanson made it 12-0 and a two out double by
Reed Massey pushed the lead to 13-0 in the middle of the frame. The Wildcats left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth after three walks.

In the sixth, Wofford was retired in order and Villanova had a single. Both teams were retired in order in the seventh inning and Wofford left one runner on base in the top of the eighth after a single by
Max McDougald. Villanova had a single in the bottom of the eighth, but a double play ended the inning.
Brett Rodriguez singled with one out in the top of the ninth, but the Wildcats turned a double play to end the top half. Villanova led off the bottom of the ninth with a double, however a strikeout and double play finished the game.

Wofford starter
Spencer Kulman (6-1) threw five innings and allowed only one hit with five strikeouts.
Rasesh Pandya worked an inning with one hit allowed.
David Ehmen did not allow a hit with one strikeout in an inning.
Quintin Pile had a strikeout and one hit allowed in an inning.
Elliot Lance threw the ninth and allowed one hit with a strikeout.

Mike Sgaramella (0-1) started for Villanova and went 1.1 innings with seven runs allowed on six hits, along with two strikeouts. Ryan Pfutzenreuter worked two-thirds of an inning with four runs allowed on one hit. John Santoianni threw an inning with two strikeouts. Jake Esp gave up two runs on two hits in two innings. Conor McCarthy did not allow a hit in two innings with one strikeout. Andrew Owen went two innings and had three strikeouts and two hits allowed.

The Terriers and Wildcats will conclude the three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. A midweek contest at Navy next Tuesday will wrap up the spring break trip.
