Box Score Spartanburg, S.C. - The Wofford men's soccer team lost its season opener 4-0 against Radford University on Friday night at Snyder Field. The Highlanders netted two early goals and added two more to secure the season opening win.
The Highlanders opened the first half scoring in the 8
th minute thanks to a goal from Sivert Daehlie. Daehlie scored off of a corner kick that was delivered from the far sideline by Fraser Colmer. Radford continued the scoring in the 19
th minute when Kieran Roberts converted from the circle on a penalty kick to increase the Highlander lead to two. Seven minutes later, Jakob Strandsater added another goal for the Highlanders to increase the halftime lead to 3.
The scoring concluded in the second half when Kieran Roberts scored his second goal of the game this time off a pass from Sivert Daehlie inside the penalty area. The Terriers continued to apply pressure throughout the rest of the half but were unable to come away with a goal.
Despite the loss the Terriers totaled five shots and seven corner kicks.
The terriers will continue the 2017 season on Sunday, August 27 when they host Cal State Fullerton at Snyder Field at 11 am.
