Men’s Soccer Earns Five SoCon Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its all-conference awards ahead of the SoCon Tournament on Wednesday. Coach Ryan Osborne was named Coach of the Year, Scott Cheevers was selected to the all-conference first team, and Fabian Menendez, Adam Celik, and Pepe Hinterschuster notched second-team honors. All voting was done by the conference's coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Ryan Osborne, in his second year as Wofford head coach, earned his first Southern Conference Coach of the Year award after leading the Terriers to an 8-4-4 overall record, a 3-1-2 record in conference play, and Wofford's first regular season conference championship since 2013. The Terriers' overall win percentage was their highest since the 2016 season. He is the third in school history to be named Coach of the Year, joining Ralph Polson (2009) and Joel Tyson (2023).

Center back Scott Cheevers earned all-conference first team in his first season with the Terriers. Cheevers started all 16 games and led the team in minutes played with 1,422. He was second on the team in points with eight, by way of three goals and two assists, and was the leader of a Terrier defense that had four shutouts on the season, three of them coming in conference play.

Fabian Menendez, Adam Celik, and Pepe Hinterschuster all earned their first all-conference second-team honors. Senior midfielder and team captain Fabian Menendez added to his all-freshman team award from 2023 and was one of the Terriers' best offensive weapons. He led the team in points with 14, goals with five, and was tied for the lead in assists with four, and was top 10 in the SoCon in all three statistics. He started 15 of Wofford's 16 games and had the fifth-most minutes on the team with 1,082.

Junior center back Adam Celik had a career year, starting all 16 games and landing second on the team in minutes with 1,387. Celik was third on the team in points with seven, scoring three goals with two assists, and he helped lead the Wofford defense to four shutouts.  Junior goalkeeper Pepe Hinterschuster also put together a great campaign, and despite dealing with injuries over the course of the season, started all 12 of his appearances and racked up 1,057 minutes on the season. He recorded 30 saves and three shutouts during the season and had the second-lowest goals-allowed average in the conference.
