Box Score Spartanburg, S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team lost 1-0 against Cal State Fullerton in overtime on Sunday Morning at Snyder Field. The Titans came out on top in the second overtime period thanks to Samuel Goni's first goal of the season.

Ralph Polson cited this weekend as an opportunity to learn and grow as a team. "We knew this would be the most challenging opening weekend of my tenure but I feel like we worked hard and grew as a team. It is always frustrating when you can't get a result, but this weekend gave us an opportunity to learn about ourselves. We will build on these games and try to better ourselves for the rest of the season."

The Terriers and Titans played a hard fought first half that ended scoreless after 45 minutes. The Titans led the charge early on tallying 5 corners in the first 45 minutes but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities. The Terriers recorded one shot in the first half from
Jack Sicker with time running out in the half.

The scoring struggles continued throughout the second half for both teams sending the game into overtime. In the 106
th minute a corner kick was delivered into the box and a bouncing ball was finished by Samuel Goni to clinch the win for Cal State Fullerton.

Despite the loss, the Terriers tallied 3 shots in the game and
Matthew Reynolds finished the game with 3 saves.

The Terriers continue the season next weekend in Macon, Georgia for the Big South/SoCon Challenge hosted by Mercer. The Terriers will face Gardner-Webb on Friday, September 1 at 4pm and Winthrop on Sunday, September 3 at 12pm.
