Men's Soccer Falls 3-2 to ETSU

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team lost 3-2 to ETSU on Saturday evening at Snyder Field. The Terriers scored first but the Buccaneers completed the comeback in the 50th minute to defeat Wofford. The Terriers move to 0-10 overall and 0-2 in the Southern Conference.
 
The Terriers opened the scoring in the second minute when Kevin Davidsson linked up with Zach Aversano from a corner kick making the score 1-0. ETSU responded just five minutes later when Ben Holt scored from just inside the penalty area to tie the game 1-1.
 
Wofford took its second lead of the match in the 37th minute when Lucas Altman converted on a penalty kick. The Buccaneers tied the game again just three minutes later when Bruno Andrade connected with Nick Spielman in the box and Spielman headed it to the far post to send the game into the half 2-2.
 
The Buccaneers broke the tie just five minutes into the second half when Bruno and Spielman linked up in an almost identical fashion. Wofford continued to press forward and create offensive chances but the Terriers could not find the equalizer.
 
In the loss Wofford totaled nine shots and six shots on goal. Zach Aversano picked up his first goal wearing the old black and gold while Lucas Altman scored his first goal of the season. Kevin Davidsson notched his second assist of the season.
 
Wofford will continue the conference schedule on Tuesday when the Terriers travel to UNCG to face off against the Spartans at 7 pm.
