Box Score DAVIDSON, N.C.- The Wofford volleyball team fell 3-0 to Florida Gulf Coast University in the opening match of the Wildcat Classic, held Sept. 8-9 and hosted by Davidson. The Eagles took the match by winning sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-18. With the loss, Wofford's five match win streak ends and the Terriers move to 5-3. Florida Gulf Coast improves to 4-3.

Catie Cronister, the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, led Wofford with 17 kills. The sophomore had just three errors on 45 attempts and hit .311 in the match. She also had added nine digs on defense and an ace from the serving line.
Taylor Gill tied a season high with 27 kills, though her other 27 kill performance came in a five set match and tonight she matched it in just three. Gill's 27 digs in the match ties the school record for digs in a three set mattch, set by Brittany Thompson at Furman in 2008.
Kara Shacklette followed with six kills, while
Riley Coonan,
Emily Durham and
Lauren Miller all finished with three. Setter
Lorissa King had 31 assists and added nine digs on the defensive end.

Two Eagles, Amanda Carroll (18) and Cortney Vanliew (13) combined for 31 of Florida Gulf Coast's 43 kills. Carroll hit .432 and Vanliew hit .281 in the match. Both finished with double-doubles, adding 19 and 13 digs, respectively.

Wofford hit .135 in the match as a team while FGCU hit .276, the highest percentage by a Wofford opponent all season. The Eagles also won the battle at the net as they finished with 8 blocks to the Terriers' one.

Wofford returns to the court for two matches tomorrow, Sept. 9. The Terriers play the University of Georgia at 10 a.m. and Davidson, the tournament host, at 6 p.m.Â
