Box Score JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Wofford volleyball team dropped its road contest at ETSU (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) on Friday night.
Alex Holland led the Terriers in kills with nine while
Catie Cronister followed behind with six kills.
Lorissa King dished out 16 assists while
Taylor Gill totaled 13 digs in the match.
With ETSU up 18-16, the Bucs began to pull away scoring three straight points in a row. The Terriers would earn two points on a kill by
Colleen Reilly and an attack error by ETSU before the Bucs would go on to score the next four consecutive points to take the first set 25-18.
The Terriers managed to keep the game within a two point deficit before ETSU would score nine straight points to take a 18-8 lead. Going forward, Wofford found kills for
Alex Holland,
Catie Cronister, and
Kara Shacklette, though, ETSU went on to control and win out the second set 25-14.
Both teams went point for point throughout the third set up until the Bucs jumped out to a 21-18 lead. Kills by
Riley Coonan,
Kelly Bossert, and
Catie Cronister, along with an ETSU attack error, would give the Terriers the lead at 22-21 to push a late comeback. However, a pair of attack errors would plague the Terriers as ETSU was able to respond with a kill to cap the set off at 25-22, earning the sweep.
Wofford drops to 2-3 in SoCon play and 9-9 overall on the season.
Next, the Terriers travel to Western Carolina for a 6 p.m. conference matchup on Saturday, October 6.
