Women's Tennis Hosts Wofford Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford women's tennis team hosted the Wofford Invite this weekend, hosting matches at Reeves Tennis Center and Converse College on Saturday and Sunday. The Terriers played strong throughout the weekend, seeing a pair of winners in the doubles and singles flight, while also seeing a number of runner-up finishes in other respective single flights. Wofford was one of 11 teams competing on the weekend, including Arkansas State, Brenau, Bluefield College, West Virginia State, UNC Asheville, Radford, Western Carolina, ETSU, Emory, and Gardner-Webb. The Terriers that competed over the weekend include Liz Massie, Lauren Joch, Curran Carver, Annie Mayfield, Kay Kluska, Lilie Steryous, Jenna Vroman, Alexandra Hildell, and Brittney Wilbur. 

Wofford earned co-champion rights in the Terriers Singles flight, as Alexandra Hildell and Curran Carver both went 3-0 on the weekend with wins over Brenau, Western Carolina, UNC Asheville, and Emory. 

Lilie Steryous represented the Terriers in the Black Singles flight, picking up wins over Emory and ETSU before falling to Western Carolina to take runner-up. Liz Massie (Gray Singles flight) and Brittney Wilbur (College Singles flight) also earned runner-up finishes in their respective flights, going 2-1 on the weekend. 

The duo Lauren Joch and Liz Massie had an impressive outing in doubles play over the weekend, going 3-0 to take the Gray Doubles flight with wins over Gardner-Webb, Radford, and ETSU. The Terriers saw another runner-up finish in the Carolina Doubles flight, with the duo of Curran Carver and Annie Mayfield going 2-1 in doubles play for the weekend. Kay Kluska and Lilie Steryous were placed in the Black Doubles flight, going 2-1 to win the back draw of their flight with wins over Radford and ETSU. 

Overall, Wofford won 17 singles matches and eight doubles matches over the weekend to conclude the 2018 fall season. 

The Terriers will open the spring season on Saturday, January 19, traveling to Durham, North Carolina to face North Carolina Central in their season opener at 1:30 p.m
