THE MATCHUP:Â Wofford is back on the road this week as they face Western Carolina in a key Southern Conference contest ... Wofford began the 2018 season with a 28-21 win over The Citadel, marking
Josh Conklin's first win as head coach ... The Terriers beat VMI, but were defeated 17-14 at Wyoming ... Wofford returned after the bye week with a win at Gardner-Webb and added a 21-10 win at Chattanooga ... After a 34-14 loss at Furman, the Terriers rebounded with a 30-17 win over ETSU ... A 42-21 win over Mercer was followed by a 35-20 loss at Samford to move to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the SoCon ... Western Carolina is 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the Southern Conference, with a league win over VMI along with losses to Furman, Samford, Chattanooga, Mercer, ETSU and The Citadel ... They also have wins over Newberry and Gardner-Webb ... The Catamounts were 7-5 last season and 5-3 in the SoCon to finish in fourth place ... In 2017 the Terriers needed overtime to secure a 35-28 win over the Catamounts in Spartanburg ... Wofford is 15th in the STATS FCS poll and 14th in the FCS Coaches poll.

MIKE AYERS FIELD: On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Wofford College unveiled a new gateway field entrance and officially name the field at Gibbs Stadium in honor of Coach Mike Ayers. The ceremony took place at halftime of the football game against Mercer. Watch the halftime video
