Magee Honored As SoCon Player of the Month

The POTM Honor is the Third this Season for the Junior

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford guard Fletcher Magee is the Southern Conference men's basketball player of the month for February, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

The player of the month honor is the third of the season for Magee, who won the award in every month except January. He becomes the first three-time player of the month in a season since Davidson's Stephen Curry took the honor in the first three months of the 2008-09 season.

Magee made the midseason watch list for both the Lou Henson Award, given to the nation's best mid-major player, and the Lute Olson Award, given to the top player in Division I men's basketball. He is also one of 10 finalists for the Jerry West award, presented to the nation's best shooting guard.

Magee averaged 22 points per game while shooting 48.2% from the field, 40% from three and 87.5% from the line.

The SoCon First-Team selection leads the country in total threes (140). He is second nationally with 4.24 threes per game, seventh in free throw percentage (91.1%), and ninth with 714 total points on the season. Magee scored in double-figures in all nine games during the month. The junior made three threes or more in six of the nine games and led all players in scoring in five games. He has made a three in 51 straight games.

In the month, Magee moved in to ninth place in program history in scoring. At The Citadel, he passed 100 threes on the season and became Wofford's first player to reach the milestone in back-to-back seasons. In the win at Western Carolina, Magee set two Wofford records. The native of Orlando broke Wofford's program record for career threes and also broke the record for threes in a single season, a record Magee himself set last season.

In the win at Chattanooga, Magee scored 45 points on 17-26 shooting and set a new career high. He was also 11-19 from three, tying Seth Chadwick for Wofford's single game record. The eleven threes is also tied for second in Southern Conference history for threes in a game and is tied for the NCAA high this season.
