SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team came out victorious on Thursday afternoon, defeating crosstown rival USC Upstate, 5-2, at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. A strong start in doubles and singles play would allow the Terriers to cruise to victory, as the win moves Wofford's record to 3-0 while USC Upstate drops to 0-2.

The Terriers would start the day off taking doubles behind 6-3 wins from
Lauren Joch and
Liz Massie in the No. 3 position, followed by the pair of
Kay Kluska and
Lilie Steryous in the No. 2 position.
Cassidy Hicks and
Jenna Vroman's match would go unfinished, tied at 4-4, though, the Terriers would hold the 1-0 edge going forward.

Sophomore
Jenna Vroman (No. 1) and senior
Cassidy Hicks (No. 2) would give the Terriers a 3-0 cushion to start singles play, with both picking up dominant 6-2, 6-1 wins. The Spartans would take the No. 3 singles, however, Wofford would bounce back in the No. 5 singles, as
Lauren Joch went on to pick up a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Up 4-1, the Spartans retaliated with a win in the No. 4 singles, however, freshman
Liz Massie would wrap things up in the No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win to give the Terriers their third win of the season.

Next, the Terriers travel to Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, January 26, to take on UNC Charlotte. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
