CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Wofford women's tennis team competed in the 49er Invite hosted by Charlotte at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex on Friday and Saturday. The Terriers had strong showings in both singles and doubles.
The round-robin formatted tournament saw the Terriers face Charleston Southern on Friday afternoon. In singles,
Jenna Vroman won in Flight A,
Georgia Fischer won in Flight B,
Lilie Steryous won in Flight D,
Brittney Wilbur won in Flight E and
Kay Kluska earned a win in Flight G. Wofford won three of the four doubles matches played.
Due to the weather forecast for rain on Sunday, the final two rounds were held on Saturday. In singles,
Georgia Fischer won matches in Flight B against Winthrop and Georgia State.
Liz Massie took both matches in Flight C against Winthrop and Georgia State, while
Lilie Steryous picked up wins over Queens and Georgia State in Flight D. In Flight E, Brittney Wilber had a win over Queens and
Alexandra Hildell had a win over Georgia State. Hildell added a win over Queens in Flight H.
Kay Kluska had a win over Queens in Flight G and over Georgia State in Flight F.
Rebecca Rubanov picked up a win in Flight F over Queens. In Flight H
Ansley Hardeman had a pair of wins over Princeton.
In Saturday doubles action,
Lilie Steryous and
Jenna Vroman had wins over Winthrop and Georgia State in Flight A. In Flight B,
Liz Massie partnered with
Brittney Wilbur for a win over Queens and then with
Rebecca Rubanov for a win over Georgia State.
Georgia Fischer and
Rebecca Rubanov added a win over Queens in Flight C, while
Alexandra Hildell and
Kay Kluska had a win over Queens in Flight D.
Next, the Terriers will play in the ITA Regionals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, from October 24-28.
