Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Wofford volleyball team finished its 2019 regular season on Saturday, falling to Chattanooga in three sets (16-25, 19-23, 21-25).
The Terriers enter the 2019 Southern Conference Championship, which will be held at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium from November 22-24, as the No. 4 seed, facing the fifth-seeded Furman Paladins on Friday at 11 a.m., with the right to advance to the semifinal matchup on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Wofford finishes the regular season with a 15-15 overall record, going an even 8-8 in SoCon play.
Catie Cronister recorded 10 kills and Riley Coonan sent home eight, with Lorissa King setting up 27 scores for Wofford. As a team, the Terriers totaled four blocks while picking up three aces and 41 digs.
Chattanooga looked sharp from the start, taking a 7-2 lead in the first. After Wofford cut it to two, the Mocs pushed their advantage to six and would not let the Terriers get closer than four, taking the last five points to close set one.
The second set was back and forth to start, until a 5-0 run from Chattanooga made the score14-8 in favor of the Mocs. Wofford would rally, making the deficit just two after an error from Chattanooga, an ace from Kennedy Smith and a kill from Coonan made the score 24-22 in favor of the Mocs who took the next point to go up 2-0.
Set three began much like the second, with Chattanooga pulling ahead after a 5-0 run. The Mocs extended their lead to seven before the Terriers climbed back in, facing set point after kills from Cronister and Coonan made the score 24-21, but a kill from Chattanooga's Gylian Finch ended the regular season for the two sides.
