BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Terriers had no answer for Samford's shooting on Thursday afternoon, as the Bulldogs shot over 50 percent from the floor and beyond the arc to end Wofford's four-game win streak with a 79-62 victory at the Pete Hanna Center. The Bulldogs knocked down a school-record 16 threes, the most Wofford has allowed this season, in the contest, as the loss drops Wofford to 7-6 in the SoCon and 15-13 overall. Samford moves to 10-18 overall and 5-8 in conference.

Samford connected on 30-of-56 (53.6%) attempts on the day, while shooting a blazing 55.2 percent clip from 3-point range (16-29 3FG). The Bulldogs had three players finish with at least three 3-pointers on the day, led by Cassidy Williams, current SoCon leader in 3-pt percentage, with 20 points on 6-of-10 from deep.

Chloe Wanink led the Terriers with 20 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor (7-14 FG), as she is now tied with Jenny Nett '02 for most consecutive double-digit scoring games in a single season with 13. Wanink also added two threes and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line in the contest.

Cairo Booker finished with 12 points, hitting a three and five free throws on the day. Booker also added two rebounds, dished four assists, and grabbed two steals. Senior
Marissa Bayer followed recording eight points, three rebounds, a block, and a steal.

Da'Ja Green (seven points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal), freshmen
Niyah Lutz (seven points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal),
Alexis Tomlin (five points, four rebounds, one steal), and sophomore
Jamari McDavid (three points, five rebounds, one assist, three steals).

Samford opened the scoring behind back-to-back 3-pointers from Cassidy Williams and a Natalie Armstrong layup to push an 8-0 lead early on.
Marissa Bayer would eventually put the Terriers on the board with two jumpers, as layups from freshmen
Niyah Lutz and
Alexis Tomlin cut the lead to two, 10-8, with 1:18 remaining. Samford then finished the quarter scoring nine of the last 12 points, on three consecutive 3-pointers, to take a 19-11 lead by the end of the first.

Niyah Lutz drilled a three to start the second, as a
Da'Ja Green jumper and
Chloe Wanink trey ball knotted the score up at 19-19 just 1:36 in. Samantha Fitzgerald answered with yet another three for the Bulldogs, pushing Samford to convert 10 of the next 11 points to force a Wofford timeout up 29-20 by the halfway mark. Wofford saw buckets from Bayer and Green coming out the timeout, though, Samford went on to net their eighth three of the half to hold an eight-point lead, 32-24. Bayer answered for the Terriers, however, an Armstrong lay-in and Ta'naisha Hill 3-pointer would allow for an 11-point Bulldog lead at the half, 37-26.

The Terriers connected on just 10-of-26 (38.5%) in the half, shooting 25 percent (2-8 3FG) from beyond the arc and 57.1 percent (4-7 FT) from the line. The Bulldogs were on fire from deep range, living off hitting 9-of-17 (52.9%) from beyond the arc to boast the double-digit lead. Samford also held the edge in rebounds in the first half, 18-15.

The Bulldogs picked up where they left off, as Cassidy Williams drilled a three that sparked a 9-1 run to give Samford a 19-point cushion, 46-27, by the 6:20 mark. Five points from
Chloe Wanink before the 5-minute media timeout, followed by three points from
Jamari McDavid, cut the deficit to 12 (47-35), though, the Terriers wouldn't come any closer for the duration of the period. Williams went on to hit two more threes, in addition to a Fitzgerald 3-pointer, to hold an 18-point advantage (56-38), as Wofford would score four of the last seven points to trail 59-42 heading into the fourth.

Samford continued to pour it in from beyond the arc, nailing back-to-back threes to bust out their largest lead of the day at 23 points, 65-42.
Cairo Booker responded with a trey ball of her own, though, both teams would trade baskets over the next four minutes to make the score 72-53 in Samford's favor by the under-5 media timeout. Scores from Wanink, Lutz, and
Da'Ja Green would ensue, however, the Bulldogs went on to maintain the double-digit lead for the rest of the way to hold on for the 79-62 win at the end of regulation.

Wofford finished shooting 42.3 percent (22-52 FG) from the floor, while hitting 5-of-14 (35.7%) from beyond the arc. The Terriers forced 18 Samford turnovers in the contest, accounting for 17 points in return, though, the Bulldogs took the rebound advantage for the contest, 39-21.
