GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team opened up the conference slate on the right foot, claiming a 4-3 victory over the UNCG Spartans on Saturday afternoon. After taking the doubles point, Wofford took three of the first four singles matches in straight sets behind wins from sophomores
Jenna Vroman,
Brittney Wilbur, and freshman
Alexandra Hildell. The Terriers move to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in conference, as UNCG drops to 4-7 and 0-1.

The Terriers made quick work of UNCG in doubles action to start the day. Freshmen
Lilie Steryous and
Liz Massie paired together for the first time this season to take down UNCG's Emily Ory and Tayah Cross, 6-1, on the No. 2 court for their first SoCon doubles win.

Cassidy Hicks and
Jenna Vroman continued to display their force as a duo, notching their seventh consecutive and ninth doubles victory of the year in No. 1 doubles to give Wofford the early 1-0 lead.

UNCG responded with a win to start singles, as Steryous (No. 3) fell in straight sets to the Spartans' Erika Barquero, before Wofford would rattle off three straight wins to clinch the match with ease early on.

Brittney Wilbur would start the streak for the Terriers, downing Ory on the No. 5 court, 6-1, 6-4, to reclaim the lead, 2-1. The win marked Wilbur's first win in the No. 5 spot and fourth singles win on the season thus far.Â

Jenna Vroman then handled Nancy Bridges in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, for her seventh straight and 10
th singles victory of the season.

Alexandra Hildell then sealed the deal in No. 6 singles, earning her second consecutive win, 6-2, 6-2, over Tayah Cross to give Wofford the win despite the remaining two matches.
