SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team dropped their first conference matchup on Thursday afternoon, falling to ETSU 6-1 at Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers pushed two singles matches to three sets, though, the Bucs took four of the six in straight sets to move to 6-8 and 1-0 in the SoCon. Despite the loss, sophomore
Jenna Vroman picked up her 11
th singles victory on the day as Wofford drops to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in conference.

ETSU started off taking No. 2 doubles, as
Lilie Steryous and
Liz Massie fell to Raquel Amaro and Yi Chi Ma.

Cassidy Hicks and
Jenna Vroman answered for the Terriers with yet another dominant display on the No. 1 court, dropping Laylo Bakhodirova and Alejandra Morales, 6-2, for their eighth consecutive and 10
th doubles win of the season.

No. 3 doubles featured a tight matchup between
Kay Kluska and
Brittney Wilbur and ETSU's Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga and Yunuen Elizarraras. The two teams traded points, though, Pascual and Elizarraras would hold on for the 6-4 win to earn the doubles point for the Bucs.

The Bucs kept their momentum rolling heading into singles, taking matches on the No. 3 and No. 2 courts in straight sets to open up a 3-0 lead.

Steryous fell to Pascual-Larrinaga in No. 3 singles, while
Cassidy Hicks fought hard in the second set to Alejandra Morales on court No. 2, but came up short, 6-2, 6-4.

Sophomore
Jenna Vroman kept her hot streak going in No. 1 singles, picking up a solid win over Bakhodirova, 6-4, 7-5, for her eighth consecutive singles victory this year.

With the match at 3-1,
Kay Kluska (No. 4) and
Brittney Wilbur (No. 5) rallied back to force tiebreaker sets on their respective courts.

In the midst of the comebacks, senior
Curran Carver suffered her first loss of the season on the No. 6 court to ETSU's Yi Chi Ma to clinch the match for the Bucs, 4-1.

Kluska battled on the No. 4 court with Raquel Amaro, but unfortunately came up short in the third set, 6-3, as Yuenen Elizarraras would eventually prevail over Wilbur in a hard-fought matchup, 6-4, to end the match at 6-1 for the Bucs' first conference win of the year.

Next, the Terriers look to get back in the win column against Chattanooga on Saturday, March 23, at Reeves Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
