SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team reported to campus on Thursday and on Friday afternoon had the first practice of the 2019 season. The back-to-back defending Southern Conference Champions were on the field for just over two hours.
Â
The Terriers started the first practice at 3:00 p.m. and worked in position groups for the majority of practice, with several periods of team drills. There were also periods of seven-on-seven, along with a focus on special teams. Â
Â
"It was a good start for us today," said head coach
Josh Conklin. "I think we understand what we are supposed to be doing for the most part. They have been here all summer and have been doing a lot on their own. We have to continue to polish them up, but I am excited about where they are at and I think the effort was good. Right now it is all about us and us getting better as a complete football team. We are trying to compete, but compete more individually than offensively and defensively. It is trying to figure out who the guys are going to be and where they are going to fit in the puzzle."
Â
Wofford will practice again at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. After an off day on Sunday, the team will return to the field on Monday at 3:00 p.m., with the first scrimmage set for Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
