THE MATCHUP: The back-to-back defending Southern Conference Champions begin the 2019 season on the road against South Carolina State ... After opening at home the last two seasons, Wofford begins 2019 on the road ... It is the eighth time in the last ten seasons the Terriers open away from home ... The last time Wofford and South Carolina State met was the 2006 season opener, which was a 28-21 win by the Terriers in Spartanburg ...  Wofford has a 6-2 lead in the series that began in 1974 ... South Carolina State was 5-6 overall last season and 4-3 in the MEAC ... Wofford is looking for a return to the FCS Playoffs after reaching the second round last season with a 9-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark as Southern Conference Champions ... Wofford is ranked 9th in the STATS FCS preseason poll and eighth in the FCS Coaches preseason poll.

PREGAME EVENT: Join Wofford alum and Orangeburg native, Marion Moore '75 for a pre-game "drop-in" tailgate from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The tailgate tent will be set up in the parking lot in front of Staley Hall (located near the stadium). The tailgate tent will be marked with a Century 21 sign. Refreshments/Light food will be provided.
