MADISON, Wisc. - The Wofford men's golf team finished its first tournament of the season on Tuesday, closing out play in the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course.
As a team, the Terriers placed 14th, totaling 893 over three rounds. Wofford opened up with a 301 on Sunday but bounced back, shooting a 4-over-par 292 on Monday before closing out Tuesday with a 300.
Ryan Marter was the high-finisher for the Terriers, tying for 29th place. The junior from Columbia, S.C, shot 1-under-par in round one before firing even par on Monday. On Tuesday, Marter closed out the tournament with a 4-over-par, shooting a 1-under-par 35 on the back nine holes to total 219 overall.
Senior
Walker Simas was just two strokes back of Marter, tying for 47th place after totaling 221. Simas shot 2-over-par 74 in round one, but fired a 72 on Monday and finished with a 75 on Tuesday.
Stuart Fuller had his best round on Tuesday, shooting 2-over-par to finish with a 228, while
Walker Jones rounded out the scoring with a 231.
Wofford has a week off, returning to the course on September 23 when it competes in the GMAC Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
