Andrew Novak Wins VidantaWorld Mexico Open

VALLARTA, Mexico – Wofford men's golf alumnus Andrew Novak '17 earned a victory at the VidantaWorld Mexico Open on Sunday with a 25-under par 259 to win by five shots. It is the first individual title on the PGA Tour for Novak, who won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event in 2025 with Ben Griffin.

He opened with a 67 in the opening round. In the second round on Friday, he had birdies on three of the last four holes for a 10-under 61. He followed that on Saturday with a 9-under 62, as he built a six-shot lead headed into the final round. On Sunday, Novak had eight pars and a birdie on the front nine. After a bogey on the tenth hole, he had birdies on 12, 13, and 14 to extend his lead. Back-to-back pars were followed by a bogey on 17, but he held a five-shot advantage headed to the final hole. On the par-four 18th, he reached the green on his second shot and a par secured a round of 69 for the win.

"I made three birdies in a row on 12, 13 and 14," said Novak in his interview with the Golf Channel after the tournament. That really kind of settled everything, and I thought I grinded it out pretty well. I think I was really just trying to play the shot in front of me. Obviously, there were good players behind me. I know that they're going to be making a run, but you know if I hit good tee shots, hit good second shots, hit good putts, I'm going to put myself in a good position."

Winning the VidantaWorld Mexico Open earns Novak 500 FedEx Cup Fall points. FedExCup Fall consists of seven official PGA Tour events which provide players an opportunity to lock up or improve their positions in priority ranking and secure additional playing opportunities for the 2027 FedExCup Season, which begins at the The American Express in January. For his career, he has played in 139 events with 88 cuts made and 17 top 10 finishes.

Novak, a 2017 graduate of Wofford College, won four events during his collegiate career with the Terriers. He twice participated in NCAA Regionals, and he was named the 2017 Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Year. Novak remains the program record holder for wins (four), top fives (15), top 10s (23), and rounds in the 60s (27). He joined the Wofford Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.
