WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The Wofford men's golf team kicked off its 2026-27 campaign at the JT Poston Invitational, which was hosted by Western Carolina University at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The Terriers placed ninth out of 17 teams with a score of 841. Junior Will Brown led Wofford and tied for 15th place with a score of 207.
 
The Terriers were 11 under par as a unit, with rounds of 285, 279, and 277 over the three-day event. South Carolina claimed the tournament title by going 31 strokes under par, which was five more than second place.  Wofford was one of two SoCon teams present at the tournament, with Western Carolina placing 10th.
 
Brown was consistent throughout the tournament, finishing at or under par in all three rounds. On day one, he posted a score of 71 and recorded five birdies. On day two, he posted another 71, while adding three more birdies. On day three, Brown exploded, scoring 65 while hitting four birdies and an eagle on the second hole. He did not hit a single bogey on day three.
 
Miller Carr came in close behind Brown in the standings, placing 25th and finishing three under par with a score of 210. He posted scores of 73, 68, and 69, racking up 14 birdies across the three days. Andrew Aquino finished tied for 48th with a score of 213 while competing as an individual. He scored 71, 69, and 73 and finished exactly at par for the tournament.

Andrew Neal, Charles Cauthen, and Cameron Sharp rounded out the lineup for the Terriers. Neal tied for 54th place, and Cauthen and Sharp both tied for 70th. Neal finished with a score of 214 (72, 68, 74), Cauthen finished with a score of 217 (74, 72, 71), and Sharp finished with a score of 217 (69, 76, 72).

Wofford returns to action next week at the Rod Meyers Invitational in Durham, North Carolina. The two-day tournament hosted by Duke is set for September 21 and 22.
