Women’s Tennis Adds Two in Class of 2021

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's women's tennis team and head coach Krissy Hall announced the signings of Lily Woods and Brianna Wilbur on Wednesday.

"This is a great day for the Wofford Women's Tennis Team. We have signed two exceptional young ladies in Brianna Wilbur and Lily Woods", said coach Hall. "Throughout the recruiting process, both Brianna and Lily's love for Wofford really stood out. I can not wait to see what the future has in store for both these amazing young women!"

Woods is a multi-sport champion and is one of the best recruits in the state (South Carolina). Before moving up to the number 1 position, she proved herself winning two state championships in 2015 and 2016. Once being moved to number 1, she continued to win championships, including six in tennis and one in basketball. She has over 45 junior tournament wins, two individual tennis championships, and an undefeated high school record from 2017-2020. Woods was All-State in 2017 and 2018, and Player of the Year in 2019.

"Lily is true student-athlete in every sense of the word. She is a very driven student who has had much success in the classroom", Hall states. "On the court, Lily is an extremely hard worker and a tough competitor. Most importantly, Lily prioritizes being a person that others can respect, and look to, as an example of personal excellence."

Wilbur, sister of current player Brittney, looks to take her success to the collegiate level. As a freshman, she was District and Regional champion, and finished 3rd in the state (Texas). She won Districts and Regionals again as a sophomore, and was the state champ in doubles play. She accomplished the same feat as a junior and is planning on doing the same her senior year. Wilbur was an All-District, All-Regional, and All-State player from 2017-2020. She has a career record of 60-2 in singles matches and 57-2 in doubles competition.

"We always talk about our team being a family and it is so special to have Brianna joining her sister, Brittney as a Wofford Terrier," said Hall. "She is an excellent player and great competitor. She will bring leadership, integrity, and energy to both our team and the Wofford Campus. Brianna is an outstanding student who is extremely motivated to do well in the classroom."
