Spartanburg, SC – Earlier this week, head coach
Krissy Hall and the Wofford women's tennis team announced their lone signing of the class of 2020, Emely Kahrs.
"We are so excited that Emely has decided to join the Wofford Women's Tennis Family. I love Emely's excitement and enthusiasm for Wofford and our program. With her character, work ethic, and talent, I have no doubt that she will make a huge impact both on and off the court during her time at Wofford."
Kahrs is from Oslo, Norway and is one of the top Norwegian players in her class. In the past three years she has earned silver at the Norwegian championships in singles play. She also reached the quarterfinals of the ITF Netherland, and was the regional champion in 2019. In doubles and mixed play, Kahrs took first place in two separate ITF Norway tournaments, one in January 2019 and the other in February 2019. She was the Norwegian doubles champion in 2019 as well, and was the Junior and Senior Norwegian champion in mixed doubles in 2018 and 2019.
Kahrs qualified for the Wang private top sports school in 2017, while also qualifying for the Pro Court Academy. She maintained a 3.7 GPA through her three years of high school, and also does volunteer work at her tennis club at home and participates in Karamba – an organization that helps kids in Brazil with personal development and education and uses soccer as an instrument to reach its goals.
