SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 on Saturday morning by UNC Charlotte at the Reeves Tennis Center. The 49ers took the doubles point and then secured three singles points the clinch the win.
In doubles, the 49ers won at #2 with a 6-1 score. The #3 doubles team of
Georgia Fischer and
Brittney Wilbur took a 7-5 win, but the #1 doubles team of
Jenna Vroman and
Liz Massie was defeated 7-6 for the point to go to the 49ers.
The 49ers won singles by taking the fifth, fourth, and sixth spots, respectively. When the match was clinched,
Liz Massie was leading at #2 singles by a 7-6, 4-3 score.
Jenna Vroman (#1) and
Georgia Fischer (#3) had lost their first sets but were leading in the second sets at the time of completion.
The loss was the first of the season for the Terriers who are now 5-1. The 49ers are 8-3 on the season. Wofford will be back in action on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against UNC Wilmington.
