Lacrosse faces off against Gardner-Webb

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford lacrosse team hosted Gardner-Webb on Saturday, dropping the contest 21-7 at Gibbs Stadium.

The Terriers totaled 19 shots, with 15 of them being on goal, picked up 15 ground balls, won 12 draw controls and had 16 clears. Ally Furnari and Elisabeth Ralph each scored hat tricks, with Olivia Abe adding a goal and two assists in the process. Leah Hurley won a team-high seven draw controls and picked up four ground balls, while Aislinn Washburn totaled seven saves in her second career start.

The Runnin' Bulldogs got on the board just over three minutes into the game, but Furnari answered a minute later with a free position goal to even the score at 1-1. Gardner-Webb scored the next five goals, but once again Furnari buried a free position attempt to make the score 6-2. Ralph went on a scoring run of her own, finding the back of the net three times down the stretch in the first half before the Runnin' Bulldogs scored a pair of their own to take an 11-5 lead into the break.

Talen Francis, who had four goals in the game, opened up the second half with a goal as Gardner-Webb stretched its lead to 13. Abe would end the dry spell for the Terriers and Furnari scored her third goal of the contest but it was not enough as the Runnin' Bulldogs claimed the victory.

Wofford drops to 0-4 on the year, but welcomes St. Bonaventure to town on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. matchup.
