Conway, SC – The Wofford women's tennis team competed hard but was unable to win a point in Saturday's match as they lost 0-4.
The duo of
Georgia Fischer and
Brittney Wilbur battled in their doubles match as they forced a tiebreaker out of the Chanticleers' tandem, but fell 7-5. The team of
Kay Kluska and
Lilie Steryous had their match come to an abrupt end since the other two matches were won by Coastal Carolina. At the time, the game was at 5-5 on a 5-5 tiebreaker.
Jenna Vroman and
Georgia Fischer were the standouts in singles play. Vroman won her first set 6-4 and was in the third set before her match was ended due to the score reaching 4-0 in favor of Coastal Carolina.
Georgia Fischer was moved up to the #2 spot due to her recent performances and lost the first set 7-5, but was ahead 4-3 in set two before the match ended.
"It was a rough day for us as a team, but we are always learning and will continue to get better", said head coach
Krissy Hall. "Our team is good enough where we will learn from our mistakes and we will come back stronger. I anticipate a good match tomorrow."
Women's tennis concludes their weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday, facing off against Clemson at 11:00 am and then taking on King at 2:00 pm.
