Box Score Johnson City, TN – The Wofford women's tennis team traveled to ETSU for their first conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately the team was unable to come out on top as they fell 7-0. The Terriers are now 7-4 on the season with an 0-1 SoCon mark.
Doubles competition was a battle for all three matches.
Jenna Vroman and
Liz Massie picked up three points in their 6-3 defeat. Wofford tied things up however as
Georgia Fischer and
Brittney Wilbur took down ETSU's #3 pairing by a 6-4 score.
Kay Kluska and
Lilie Steryous fought until the very end, but came up just short on a 7-5 loss.
Wofford struggled in singles as they couldn't string together any kind of momentum. The team dropped the first four matches on two straight sets, and only
Liz Massie was able to muster up three points in her loss.
Jenna Vroman put up four points in her first set at the #1 spot, but fell in two sets as well. Freshman
Georgia Fischer was the only player to take her match to three sets. She fought back to win a tiebreaker in set two and did all she could to get the win, but was outlasted by her opponent.
"I think we had some ups to our game today, but we had more downs and when that happens it's tough to get a win", said coach Hall. "I'm proud of the fight we put in today. Every day is another day to get better and we will continue to do that."
