JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Wofford men's soccer team played a tough match against the ETSU Buccaneers Saturday night at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Terriers and Buccaneers traded their first two goals each, and ETSU pulled ahead in the 65
th minute when Tarik Pannholzer netted his second-straight goal. The brace was not enough for the Bucs, however, as
Brandon Oddy netted an equalizer in the 83
rd minute to force overtime. Neither team could break through in the extra time, so the squads settled for the 3-3 draw and split the points.
The result snapped a six-game losing streak for the Terriers against the Buccaneers that lasted from 2016-21. Wofford remains winless, though, in Johnson City, with all three ties in the series history occurring at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

th minute, but Josh Perryman came through with the save for ETSU.
Mitchell Myers was booked for a yellow card a minute later. This did not deter the Terrier attack, however, and the momentum shifted back in their favor after Tarik Pannholzer committed a foul in the box.
Mitchell Myers took the ensuing penalty kick, and he slotted it into the bottom left corner to make up for his booking and give the Terriers a 1-0 lead with 15:40 on the clock. The Bucs responded with a chance in the 19
th minute, but
Judd Wagner grabbed the attacking Buccaneer and was subsequently awarded a yellow card. Another ETSU foul set up a free kick for Wofford, but
Thaddeus Dennis' header on the set piece was saved in the 26
th minute. The Bucs went back on the attack, but
Joshua Old came out of the net and received Wofford's third yellow card of the half in the 27
th minute. ETSU drew level with 27:54 on the clock when Carlos Portas sent a through ball to Aidan O'Brien, and he found the back of the net when his shot deflected off the sliding Terrier defender. Wofford reclaimed the lead at the 31:44 mark off the foot of
Will Pucek, who received the assist from across the box from
Meade Fowler and beat the keeper from short distance. ETSU gave one final attempt to draw level in the 43
rd minute, but Tarik Pannholzer's shot missed wide. Wofford entered the break up 2-1.
Christoffer Saietz opened the second half by firing a rocket from long distance in the 47
th minute, but his shot barely missed wide. ETSU surrendered a foul in the 50
th minute just outside the box, setting up a free kick for
Mitchell Myers. He tried to slot it home into the bottom left corner again, but he missed just wide. The Buccaneers secured the equalizer at the 56:34 mark when Tarik Pannholzer found the net with a slight deflection off a Terrier defender. With 64:39 on the clock, ETSU pulled ahead after a cross found Pannholzer's head, and he put it into the top left corner to give the Bucs a 3-2 lead.
Magnus Kjoller fired a long shot in the 82
nd minute to try to draw level, but it was saved. However,
Brandon Oddy scored the equalizer almost a minute later, heading it home at the 82:21 mark.
The overtime period opened with an unsuccessful Terrier chance. The Bucs went on the counterattack, and for the second time on the night a Terrier received a yellow card for grabbing the streaking Buccaneer attacker.
Magnus Kjoller was the offender this time. A perfect through ball found
Mitchell Myers in the 98
th minute for a one-on-one chance with the keeper, but the potential game-winner sailed high to cement a scoreless first overtime period.
The second opened with yet another failed Terrier chance resulting in a Buccaneer counterattack. A hard sliding challenge by
Amin Mohammedi in the 101
st minute resulted in a red card. An ETSU shot in the 104
th minute missed high.
Brandon Oddy took a shot from the 18-yard line in the 104
th minute, but it was blocked. Michael Clow almost secured the victory for ETSU with a shot in the 109
th minute, but
Joshua Old come through with a clutch diving save. With the final seconds ticking off the clock, ETSU had one final attack, but the cross was unable to find the wide open man across the box and rolled away to finalize a 3-3 draw.
Wofford (3-5-1, 1-0-1) led in the shot column, firing 17 to 16 for ETSU (2-4-3, 0-1-2). The Bucs held the advantage in corners 5-2.
Joshua Old (3-4-1) made three saves for the Terriers. Josh Perryman (2-4-3) made four saves for the Bucs. Wofford committed more fouls, 12 to ETSU's nine, including four yellow cards and a red card to just one yellow card for the Bucs.
The Terriers will be back in action in a week with game four of their five-game road slate. They will travel to Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday, October 9 to take on the Belmont Bruins in another SoCon matchup at 6:00 pm.
