BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Wofford's women's tennis team grabbed its fourth win of the season after taking down the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs. This was the third match Wofford won by a final score of 4-3.
Emely Kahrs and
Liz Massie started the afternoon well with a 6-1 over their opponent pairing at the #2 doubles position. The duo of
Georgia Fischer and
Brittney Wilbur secured the doubles point for Wofford with a 6-4 win. The Terriers almost made it a clean sweep, but were edged in a tiebreaker point on court one.
Just as she did in doubles, Massie made light work of her singles opponent, winning 6-4 and 6-3.
Jenna Vroman bounced back and earned another point for Wofford with a 7-6, 6-4 victory. After Gardner-Webb won their second point, Wilbur closed the match out with a 7-6, 6-3 win at the #6 position to spring the Terriers to a 4-2 lead, and taking the match 4-3.
"Everyone showed a lot of great competitiveness out there today. We finally got the doubles point we've been searching for and carried us through singles", said coach Hall. "The effort and work that the girls put in is showing every day, and I couldn't be prouder."
