COLUMBIA, S.C. – Wofford's men's soccer team put up another tough fight on Saturday afternoon against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but came up a hair short on the wrong side of a 2-1 defeat.
Brandon Oddy had the only shot on goal for the Terriers in the first half which ended up being saved by the Gamecocks' keeper. Wofford had other chances from
Adrian Roseth and
Alex Dennis, but neither of which found the back of the net. Emil Larson was on top of his game in the first 45 minutes with three saves.
South Carolina opened the scoring in the 57
th minute, which was the first shot on goal from either team in the second half. Wofford pushed for a tying goal and found it from Oddy in the 79
th minute with the assists coming from
Meade Fowler. The Gamecocks quickly answered however in the 82
nd minute to take the lead again, and would hold on as the Terriers lost 2-1.
