SPARTNABURG, S.C. – Wofford's men's tennis team had to play until the very end to pick up the win today, secured by
Omar Williams who won his match in the third set to give the team the victory.
Omar Williams and
Bryce Keim had an easy run at it in doubles play, winning convincingly at the #1 position 6-0.
Ashe Ray and
Will Fullett secured the doubles point with a 7-5 win on court #3, which was important because
Javi Casasolas and
Diego Losada looked like they were going to win, but ended up falling in the end.
Fullett continued his great play in singles with a pair of 6-3 wins at the #6 spot, while
Callum Rendle picked up a win as the #2, winning the first set 6-3 and his opponent retired during the second set while he was up 2-1.. The Bulldogs tied the match at 3-3 and it came down to Williams and Nolan on court #1. Williams took the first set, Nolan took the second, and Williams came up clutch with a 6-3 win in set three to give Wofford the win.
"That was an incredible match on both sides. Omar played clutch to win 6-3 in the third to give us the match", said coach
Rod Ray. "Our guys can take a lot of confidence away from this weekend."
