CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team traveled to Chapel Hill on Wednesday afternoon to take on the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels. The Terriers were dropped 7-0 and will square up with Georgia Southern on Sunday, March 21, at 1:00 pm.
It was always going to be a struggle for Wofford going up against the best team in the country, but they were able to steal a few points away from the Tar Heels.
Javi Casasolas and
Callum Rendle took two points from the #5 ranked team in the nation, in a 6-2 defeat, while the top pairing of
Omar Williams and
Bryce Keim took a point from the #6 duo in the country. The third pairing of
Will Fullett and
Ashe Ray also grabbed one point in their match.
The Terriers weren't able to snag any singles matches, but this time they were able to take away two sets from North Carolina.
Diego Losada took the first set in his match against #100 Josh Peck before falling in three sets, and
Bryce Keim was able to take his match to a third set after he won the second 6-1. Wofford competed hard in all other singles matches, but lost in straight sets.
