Football Hosts The Citadel In Final Spring Home Game

The Citadel Game
Wofford wraps up the spring slate of home games on Saturday afternoon when The Citadel visits Gibbs Stadium ... The Terriers opened the season with a 31-14 win over Mercer on February 20 before falling 24-13 at Chattanooga on February 27 ... The game scheduled for March 6 against East Tennessee State was postponed ... The Terriers fell 37-31 at Samford on March 13 and lost 36-31 to VMI on March 27 ... Wofford was 8-4 overall and 7-1 in the Southern Conference last season ... Wofford won the outright SoCon Championship and earned the automatic bid, marking the seventh league title in school history ... It was the first time the Terriers have won back-to-back-to-back league championships ... Wofford reached the NCAA FCS Playoffs for the fourth-straight season ... The Citadel enters the game with an 0-9 overall record and an 0-5 mark in the Southern Conference ... They played four games in the fall in addition to the eight league games scheduled this spring ... Last season in Charleston the Terriers won 31-11 in the final game of the regular season.

Here are the top notes of interest heading into The Citadel game:
    • The contest features two of the top rushing attacks in the nation, as the Bulldogs are seventh (230.4) and the Terriers eighth (230.2) in rushing yards per game. Wofford's rushing defense is ranked 34th and The Citadel's is ranked 65th.
    • Wofford won the 2019 Southern Conference Championship, the seventh overall and first time winning back-to-back-to-back.
    • Last season was the tenth playoff appearance for Wofford, with a 9-10 mark in the postseason.
    • Wofford is 70th in the nation in total defense and 31st in the nation in total offense.
    • Wofford has scored first in all four games this season.
    • There are a total of 10 returning starters in 2020-21, with two on the offense, six on the defense, and two specialists.

With the graduation of 2019 SoCon Player of the Year Joe Newman, the Terriers have a new starter at quarterback ...  Jimmy Weirick starting all four games so far, with Peyton Derrick seeing time in three games ... Irvin Mulligan is the leading rusher with 249 yards on 39 carries, while Ryan Lovelace has 223 yards on 46 carries and Nathan Walker has 34 carries for 170 yards - all three top rushers have two touchdowns each ... The top receiver is tight end Landon Parker with 155 yards on eight catches and two touchdowns, while KeiAndre Sanders had eight catches for 104 yards ... The offensive line is replacing all five starters from last season ... Linebackers Joe Beckett and John Beckley are the top two returning tacklers with 50 and 46 tackles, respectively ... Micheal Mason led the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks ...  Brandon Brown currently leads the team with 26 tackles, with John Beckley recording two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss ... Senior's Last Lap
The Citadel game will mark the final regular season home contest for seven Wofford seniors. The group includes: Corey Cooper, Elliott Campbell, Brater Gerber, Dawson Henis, Ryan Lovelace, Garrison Moore and Darron Paschal.  In the past four years they had a 28-14 overall record and won the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Southern Conference Championships, along with NCAA FCS Playoff appearances in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Football Ticket Information
Parents of student-athletes can attend - must be on the approved player pass list. Beginning on Saturday, February 20, a limited number of current Wofford students can attend. Students have received an email with instructions on ticket pick-up policy and entry procedures. Terrier Club members will also be provided an opportunity to purchase a limited number of tickets based on priority points. Eligible members will receive an email with instructions. No ticket sales to the general public.

Football General regulations
  • All tickets will be digital this spring. Tickets may be printed out at home or downloaded to your phone. 
  • Gates will open 1 hour prior to kick-off.
  • Temperature checks will be required upon entry.
  • Clear bag policy is still enforced.
  • No re-entry to the stadium will be allowed at any time, for any reason.
  • Limited concessions will be available.
Football Parking regulations
  • Parking, with the exception of the Verandah Lot, will be free this spring. 
  • Parking spaces will not be reserved. Paved lots will be used first, followed by grass lots.
  • Parking lots open 1 hour prior to game time. Lots will close 30 minutes following the game.
  • Tailgating is strongly discouraged.
  • No tents, trailers or grills are allowed in the parking lots.
