LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2020-21 All-Region honorees on Tuesday morning, as Wofford senior middle blocker
Riley Coonan received AVCA East Coast All-Region Honorable Mention recognition from the AVCA All-Region committee.
The nod marks the first AVCA All-Region accolade for a Wofford women's volleyball player in program history.
Additionally, the honor marks Coonan's third postseason nod, collecting First Team All-Southern Conference honors and SoCon All-Tournament team recognition prior.
The Jacksonville, Florida native finished the 2020-21 campaign as the team's points leader (226.5), while also leading the team with 181 kills and 2.78 per set. Coonan also finished third in the conference with a .313 hitting percentage. Highlighted by two season-high 17-kill performances, Coonan reached double-digit kill totals in 12 matches, collecting SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 23. Additionally, Coonan finished second on the squad with 61.0 blocks on the season, averaging 0.94 per set, as she reached five or more blocks on six occasions this season.
The 6-foot-1 middle blocker leaves her mark on the Wofford volleyball program, as Coonan finishes her career with the Terriers fifth all-time in blocks (314) and fourth all-time in solo blocks (87).
Wofford concluded the 2020-21 season with a 10-7 overall record and 10-6 Southern Conference record. The Terriers matched its best Southern Conference finish since 2017, tying the most conference wins in program history (10).
