SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team played their last match before finals week, going up against the Samford Bulldogs and falling to a 6-1 final.
With
Bryce Keim out of the lineup again,
Javi Casasolas and
Callum Rendle took over the #1 position, only to fall in a hard-fought match 6-4.
Omar Williams was paired up with
Alex Horn once again, winning at the second position 6-3. The Terriers ultimately dropped the doubles point after
Ashe Ray and
Will Fullett fell 6-2.
Williams continued his impressive performance knocking off Samford's #1 with a 7-5, 6-3 sweep to earn Wofford a point. The Bulldogs retook control of the match with a pair of sweeps at #4 and #6 singles, but Wofford was not going away easily. Casasolas, Ray, and Rendle all took the first set in their matches to avoid the sweep and go into three sets. Casasolas and Ray both took an early lead in their respective matches, only to fall late due to some tired play. Rendle went down and fought back to a 5-3 score before being downed by a 6-3 final set.
