SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College student-athlete
Storm Murphy has been named to the 2021 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Murphy, a senior from Middleton, Wisconsin, started all 24 games for the Terriers this season as he earned All-Southern Conference first team accolades. He led the team in scoring with 426 points and 104 assists on the year, with an average of 17.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. He was ranked second in assists (4.3) and free-throw percentage (.843), along with fourth in scoring (17.8) in the Southern Conference.
He closes his Wofford career with 1,315 career points to finish 24
th on the program's all-time scoring list, while being slotted third in career starts (126), fourth in free-throw percentage (.849) and fifth in assists (472 overall; 3.7/g).
A finance major with a 3.43 grade point average, Murphy is the fourth men's basketball player in school history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. He joins Harold Jackson (1982), Greg O'Dell (1992) and Brad Loesing (2011 and 2012) as those to be honored.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wofford is in the fourth district, which includes schools in Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade point average. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in late May.
