SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team opened the fall tournament season at the Lynn Stevens Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University on Friday and Saturday.  
 
On the first day, the team won nine of 14 matches played. Freshman Lily Woods and junior Georgia Fischer both went 3-0 in singles play. 
 
The second day saw the team win three of the five doubles matches, including a pair against Coastal Carolina.
 
"Overall, I was very impressed with how well we competed in our first tournament," said head coach Krissy Hall. "We look forward to using the next month to continue to improve as a team before heading into the ITA Regionals in October."
 
Participants in this weekend's action were Charleston Southern, Wofford, and fellow Sun Belt Conference member Appalachian State.
 
Wofford will play in the ITA Regionals from October 21 to October 25 in Winston-Salem, N.C. before hosting the Wofford Invitational from October 29-31 at the Reeves Tennis Center.
