SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Junior
Matthew Larkin (-8) set a 54-hole career low with an 8-under-par 205 in the final round of the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina University, on Tuesday afternoon to lead Wofford (+5) to a ninth-place finish at the par-71 Country Club of Sapphire Valley. Sophomore
Cedric Otten (-2) also collected his first top-20 finish as a Terrier, finishing tied for 18
th with a 54-hole career-low score of 211 to round out the Terriers' top finishers.

Larkin's performance ties for the fourth-best 54-hole score in program history, with the previous being William McGirt's low-medalist performance at the 2001 Southern Conference Championship.

Larkin, a native of Atlanta, Ga., tallied 35 pars for the tournament, recording a total of seven birdies and an eagle on Monday with a first-round 3-under-par 68 and 2-under-par 69 in the second round. Larkin then finished strong in Tuesday's final round, sitting in a three-way tie for first through his final three holes, as Larkin would tally five birdies to finish with another 68 on the day for the 8-under-par finish.

Chattanooga's Braedon Wear (-10) would emerge out of the three-way tie as the individual medalist, as three SoCon golfers made up the individual field's top three – Larkin; Tobias Jonsson (Mercer – T2). The Terriers finished with a score of 857, as South Carolina (-19) won the tournament's crown by two strokes over Middle Tennessee State (-17), followed by Chattanooga (-15) in third.

Wofford scored wins over Furman (+6), UNC Wilmington (+8), Mercer (+8), Morehead State (+30) and Central Arkansas (+42).

Otten, a native of Dusseldorf, Germany, blazed through the opening 18 holes for a career low-round of 5-under-par 66, with seven birdies and an eagle, prior to finishing even (71) in the second round with four birdies. Otten fluctuated within the top 10 over the first two rounds, though, the sophomore would finish 3-over-par (74) in Tuesday's final round to settle with a personal best of 211 and top-20 finish.

Bailey Means (+14) finished tied for 74
th with a score of 227. Junior
Jackson Hill (+16) rounds out Wofford's lineup tied for 79
th with a score of 229.

Daniel Brasington competed as an individual, finishing tied for 60
th with a score of 221.

Wofford returns to the course on Oct. 11-12, co-hosting the Carolina Collegiate with USC Upstate at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C.
