SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex. The Terriers won the doubles point and added five singles wins.  
 
In doubles, the team of Lily Woods and Georgia Fischer picked up a 6-2 win at the #2 position. Liz Massie and Lillie Steryous clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at the #1 position. The Chanticleers won at #3 doubles.
 
Georgia Fischer got things started for the Terriers in singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the #4 position. Breda Brennan added a point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the #6 position. After the Chanticleers earned at point at #2 singles, Brianna Wilbur secured a match win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at #5 singles. Liz Massie added a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at #3 singles. Lily Woods' match at #1 singles was tied at one set each and was decided by a tiebreaker, which was won by Woods 12-10.  
 
"I was really proud of how aggressive we came out in doubles," said head coach Krissy Hall. "Winning the doubles point gave us a lot of confidence to do what we needed to do in singles. It was a total team win!"
 
The win was the first for Wofford (1-2) over Coastal Carolina (0-1) since the 2008 season.
 
Wofford will return to action on Saturday, February 12 against Emmanuel College at the Reeves Tennis Center.
