SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team swept Emmanuel College by a 7-0 score on Saturday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center. After winning all three doubles matches, the Terriers won all six singles matches in straight sets for the victory.
In doubles,
Ansley Hardeman and
Brianna Wilbur took a 6-2 match at the #3 position.
Lilie Steryous and
Liz Massie clinched the point with a 6-2 win at #1 doubles.
Georgia Fischer and
Lily Woods earned a 6-4 win at the #2 position to make it a sweep.
Brianna Wilbur got things started for the Terriers in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #5 position.
Liz Massie followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #3 and
Lily Woods had a 6-0, 6-2 win at the #1 position to clinch the match.
Georgia Fischer added a 6-1, 6-1 win at #4 singles,
Lilie Steryous won 6-4, 7-5 at the #2 position and
Emely Kahrs closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the #6 position.
"It was great to be back at home playing after a couple of road matches," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We started off strong by winning all three doubles matches and continued our competitive play throughout singles. I was very impressed with our energy today!"
Wofford (2-2) will return to action on Tuesday, February 15, when they host North Greenville at 2:30 p.m.
