Box Score MACON G.A. – The Wofford men's soccer team opened the SoCon season with a 0-0 draw at reigning Southern Conference champion Mercer. The tie moves the Terriers' record to 3-5-2 on the season and 0-0-1 in the SoCon.
The Terriers had chances early on offense, but a shot from
Nathan Childress went wide right and one from
Jackson Wrobel was blocked. Mercer had the first true scoring opportunity in the 35th minute, but the Bears' shot was saved by
Cameron Victor.
Both sides rattled off three shots in the opening half, with the Bears collecting two shots on goal.
Kameron Gorst had a chance to put Wofford on the board in the 49th minute, but his shot was saved in the bottom left corner of the goal.
Mercer had the final opportunity to break the tie in the 83rd minute, but Victor denied the chance with another save for the Terriers.
