ROCK HILL S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team defeated Winthrop 3-1 Tuesday night earning back-to-back road wins with one game remaining in the regular season. The Terriers improve to 6-7-2 (2-1-1 SoCon).
Jackson Wrobel got the offense rolling just over the 27-minute mark with a goal off a pass from
Nikolai Rojel, giving the Terriers a 1-0 lead. Wofford had a 9-6 shot advantage in the first period as the score remained the same through halftime.
The Terriers quickly doubled their lead four minutes into the second half, with Rojel netting his eighth goal of the season off a pass from Wrobel and
Nic Parker.
The Eagles cut the lead in half at the 65th minute with a goal, making it a 2-1 Wofford lead with 25 minutes remaining.
Wofford responded minutes later with
Thaddeus Dennis recording his third goal in the past four games off a pass from
Brandon Oddy.
The Terrier defense held the rest of the way, securing the 3-1 win for Wofford.
