CHATTANOOGA T.N. – The No. 8 Wofford women's soccer team saw its best season in over two decades come to an end Friday night in the Southern Conference Quarterfinals 1-2 on the road against the top-seeded Chattanooga Mocs.
The Terriers finish the season at 9-8-3, the first winning season for the program since 2013, when the Terriers finished 8-5-6. Wofford's nine wins is also the most wins in a single season since 2000 (10 wins).
The Mocs were able to get the offense rolling early, with Caroline Richvalsky netting a goal in the 15th minute of the match.
Chattanooga tested the Terrier defense again in the 24th minute, but this time
Caroline Doss was there to make the save. Doss finished the opening half with three saves.
The Mocs took their 1-0 lead into halftime out-shooting Wofford 6-0 in the first half, with four of those shots on goal.
Wofford applied pressure early in the second half, with
Meara Kelly sending a shot over the leaping keeper but the shot rattled off the top of the crossbar.
Chattanooga doubled its lead in the 67th minute after Birna Johannsdottir snuck past the Terrier defense off a pass from Mackenzie Smith.
Wofford's offense finally broke through in the 88th minute when
Lexi Reichenbach capitalized on a Chattanooga turnover, cutting the lead down to one.
The Mocs held on in the final two minutes, ending Wofford's season in the quarterfinals.

This was the fourth game in a week's span for Wofford.
The Terriers defeated Chattanooga last Friday, handing the Mocs its only conference loss.
