Valiant Effort Falls Short For Men’s Basketball At Drake

DES MOINES I.A. – The Wofford men's basketball team fell in a tough road battle 72-80 to Drake at the Knapp Center Monday night. Corey Tripp led the way for the Terriers with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while also adding two steals and assists.

The two sides continued to exchange baskets until Adam Silas tied the game at 24-24 with 6:34 left until halftime. Wofford continued to answer each Drake basket until the final seconds when a Tucker DeVries layup with seven seconds left gave the Bulldogs a 36-33 lead at halftime.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Tice and Mack brought the score even, with another three by Tripp, following a Drake basket, giving the Terriers a 52-51 advantage with 12:12 left in the game.

A quick three-point play gave the lead back to Drake, but a Messiah Jones free throw followed by a Tripp layup off a Drake turnover tied the game back up at 58-58 with 9:22 left.

The Bulldogs used the next two minutes to embark on an 8-0 run to go up 64-58.
