SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team earned their first victory of the season with a 7-0 sweep of Emmanuel College at Reeves Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers took the doubles point and then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles, the Wofford team of
Will Fullett and
Mark Endler made quick work in a 6-0 in at the #3 position.
Callum Rendle and
Bryce Keim clinched the point with a 6-4 win at the #1 position, while the #2 match was unfinished with
Ashe Ray and
Alex Horn leading 4-3.
Singles matches began with
Mark Endler taking a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #3 position and
Alex Horn winning 7-5, 6-0 at the #4 spot.
Robert Young then clinched the match with a 6-1, 7-5 win at #5 singles.
Ashe Ray added a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #1 singles and
Callum Rendle won his match at #2 by a 6-3, 6-3 margin. The final match of the day was won by
Will Fullett 6-2, 6-3 at the #6 position.
"I'm impressed with Emmanuel, they came to play today," said Wofford head coach Roy Ray. I'm equally impressed with how our guys handled the pressure that our opponents applied. It was great to attack the day at home. I'd like to thank all of the terrific fans that came out today. It was a great day."
Wofford (1-7) remains at home for a match on Tuesday against North Greenville at 2:30 p.m.
