SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Wofford College men's tennis team downed North Greenville University 7-0 at Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers took the doubles point and then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles, the Wofford team of
Callum Rendle and
Bryce Keim was down 2-1 before rallying for a 6-2 win at the #1 position.
Alex Horn and
Ashe Ray added a 6-1 decision at #2 doubles to clinch the point. The #3 team of
Will Fullett and
Mark Endler was up 5-2 when doubles ended.
The first singles point was earned by the Terriers with a 6-0, 6-0 win by
Robert Young at the #5 position.
Alex Horn added a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles and
Mark Endler clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3 singles. At #2 singles,
Callum Rendle picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Ashe Ray battled for a win in the first set 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker and then won the second set 6-2 to take the point at #1 singles.
Will Fullett ended the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
"NGU played solid doubles today without many mistakes," said head coach Roy Ray. "I'm pleased that we're continuing to improve our execution which was evident today. We also played well in the singles. We're looking forward to preparing for our next match."
Wofford (2-7) remains at home for a match on Saturday afternoon against South Carolina State at 2:00 p.m.
